Our Story

Creativo School was founded in 2010 with a simple belief: every student has creative potential waiting to be developed — they just need the right guidance, environment, and structure to flourish.

What started as a small studio in Surabaya has grown into a recognized creative learning institution with three locations and hundreds of graduates who have gone on to study design, animation, and creative arts at universities across Indonesia and abroad.

We are managed under CV Kreasi Bestari Meraki and are committed to maintaining the highest standard of creative education at every level.

Our Approach

🎯

Goal-Oriented

Every program starts with understanding what the student wants to achieve — and builds toward that goal.

🧑‍🎨

Mentor-Driven

Our mentors are practicing designers and illustrators who bring real-world experience into every session.

📐

Structured Curriculum

We don't just teach techniques — we build a complete creative vocabulary: composition, color theory, typography, and more.

🌱

Growth Mindset

We celebrate progress over perfection and create an environment where students feel safe to experiment and grow.

Our Founder

Herman holds a Bachelor's degree in Information Systems from STTS Surabaya (2004) and later pursued an Advertising Diploma from one of Jakarta's leading advertising schools — an unusual combination that gave him both technical and creative fluency.

His professional career began at DDB Worldwide in Jakarta — a global marketing communications network under Omnicom Group, one of the world's largest advertising holding companies — where he contributed to national campaigns for Indosat.

From 2007 to 2010, Herman served as Operations Manager at First Media Design School, a Singapore-based design school that opened its Jakarta branch in Indonesia. This was the defining experience that shaped how Herman understands creative education systems — how a structured, industry-aligned design curriculum is built, run, and scaled. This foundation became the blueprint for Creativo.

In 2011, Herman was approached by Yayasan Ursulin Indonesia to help develop a new department at SMK Cor Jesu in Malang. This led to the establishment of the school's DKV (Visual Communication Design) department — the first private vocational design program in Malang. Herman was directly involved in designing this curriculum from the ground up, aligned with national formal education standards.

This experience is what sets Creativo's approach apart. Not every art school owner has a background as an educator — someone who understands how a curriculum must be sequenced, measurable, and grounded in real learning principles. At Creativo, the program structure isn't just a collection of techniques; it's a learning pathway designed with genuine educational logic behind it.

In 2010, Herman returned to Surabaya and founded Creativo — bringing together three worlds: professional advertising, international design school operations, and formal vocational curriculum development. Since 2016, he has focused entirely on Creativo, with a firm belief in local talent and a team he can rely on.
